Before the work comes down, Mary Catherine Solberg returns to POTENTIAL to talk through what she made and why. Her "Everyday Icons" — a swimmer mid-dive, a dog leaping for a ball, a kid wrestling with a decision that was never really theirs to make — have been featured here since October, painted with the same reverence the Renaissance masters gave their saints: gold leaf, plaster, oil, a little glitter when the piece called for it.

This is the closing conversation for anyone who's spent time with the exhibition and wants to hear it in her own words — how a former land surveyor and tech founder found her way back to painting full-time, what her Catholic upbringing has to do with the work, and why she believes a piece worth living with is one that gives you something new on the third look you didn't catch on the first two.
Come say goodbye to the show before it closes for good.
